our purpose

As a coastal community, Cape Ann is vulnerable to sea level rise, storm surge, and other threats associated with climate change, like drought, extreme heat, and woodland fires.

Our mission on Cape Ann is to build climate resilience by offering community-specific climate and preparedness education, hands-on learning opportunities, a regional working group, and volunteer-led advisory groups.

Climate impacts are already here.

Now what?

The more we learn about climate impacts, the more we understand that being prepared is one of the most important steps we can take. So what does this look like? And what is TownGreen’s role?

Raising Climate Awareness

Our climate education programs focus on where climate impacts are happening, such as how sea level rise and storm surge are making flooding worse in vulnerable areas, and who and what are at risk. Youth climate leadership programs bring students together to discuss concerns and actions.

Adapting to a Changing Climate

TownGreen helps our communities implement practical strategies to adapt to a changing climate. By convening local leaders to act on climate adaptation and emergency preparedness, we empower Cape Ann communities to be prepared for storms and other risks.

Facilitating Community Action

TownGreen is well known for facilitating community climate conversations. Now, we are bringing municipal and community leaders together to form a Cape Ann coastal adaptation working group to share and learn from each other and keep momentum high for climate adaptation and resilience projects.
