Planning for Reality programs include climate science modeling and forecasting, potential solutions, and field trips to experience local climate impacts firsthand. In 2025,the series will focus on emergency preparedness with in-person workshops and webinars.
What we’re planning in 2025
Emergency Preparedness Programs
TownGreen, in partnership with the City of Gloucester and the American Red Cross Northeast, will present several programs on emergency preparedness that may include:
- In-person workshops on how to prepare for a weather-related event
- Webinars with local and state emergency management officials who will provide updates on plans and initiatives
- Webinar series with our partner The Climate Initiative on how to prepare yourself and your household for an emergency
- Special webinar on how the Asheville, NC community responded to Hurricane Helene’s devastation
2025 Climate Impact Field Trips
Our field trips will include emergency preparedness, climate-impact locations, and other sites such as:
- Visit to a local shelter location
- Field trip to Black Earth Compost Manchester-by-the-Sea compost facility
- Good Harbor Ecosystem
- Wingaersheek Beach marsh site
- Shellfish restoration with Massachusetts Oyster Project
